#28 Paris Women in Machine Learning & Data Science Hors-Série n°8: AI For Finance
☀️ ️This is it, summer is finally over, we are starting to have meetups again!
On September 10th, we had an hors-série: the event was at the end of the day AI for Finance. Our members could get a ticket for free through our meetup page thanks to our special partnership with Société Générale.
📊 The event started with Margarita Khokhlova sharing one of her last articles: Cross-Year Multi-Modal Image Retrieval Using Siamese Networks.
It was very interesting to see how her model manages to group aerial pictures of the same place while taken up to 15 years apart!
As a second part, Zaïnaba Elkhald handled the roundtable with Marion Cabrol, Lucile Debaisieux, Lorraine Nyembi and Nathalie Tran.
The topics tackled covered a lot of ground: technical, everyday life as a data scientist, or also how to keep your knowledge up to date in this fast-moving field. The public was particularly interested in formation: how to change career path inside data and how to keep learning.
Finally, Syrielle Montariol presented the work she doing during her thesis: how to detect omissions of risk factors in company annual reports with NLP? She is using active learning which is key to have data right on the spots your model has trouble to deal with!
As promised in June, we have a wonderful surprise! On the 25th of September, we will have a joint meetup with the Brussels chapter, and it will feature Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President for a Europe Fit for the Digital Age.
